Course Overview

This program is designed to provide the participants with in-class learning with a site-specific practical training component. Upon completion, participants will be knowledgeable about confined space entry requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and will be able to recognize confined spaces, describe the major hazards, identify controls, and perform a confined space rescue.

Course Content

  • Identifying potential hazards of confined spaces
  • How to recognize a confined space as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Employer assistance programs for confined space entry
  • Controlling hazards of confined space entry and unwanted entry activity
  • Entry permits, hot work permits and pre-inspection check lists
  • Confined space rescue equipment and techniques
  • Additional consultations as required by employer
